God is doing some awesome things! This past week I was able to visit Boca Chica and see how the project to start a new school is progressing. Not only did I get to spend a rich time in fellowship with the team of workers, I was able to see new plans for the school building and meet with teachers that might be teaching at the school. PLUS I was able to take my friend/co-worker along with two high school students. God richly blessed our time together and I am just as excited as ever to anticipate the opening of “Gimnasio Cristiano de Boca Chica” in January 2017.
So here are some specific updates:
- SCHOOL LOCATION: The church has been able to purchase a larger piece of land to construct the school. The estimated costs for phase one of construction will be $80,000 USD to be fund raised in the near future.
2. SCHOOL OPENING: Regardless of construction, the school is planning on opening January 2017 with two classes: PK3 and PK4. During our visit we were able to guide the director in appropriate developmental phases and objectives for the classes and give ideas for curriculum and lessons. The temporary school will be located either in the local Compassion International site or an apartment above the church building. They have some of the classroom already set up!
3. PARTNERSHIP: TeachBeyond is still in process to formalize the agreement between them and the school and once they do we will be looking for a missionary couple to join the teaching staff at the school. Please be praying for the minds and hearts of this couple and all future missionaries to this special community. We are also exploring the idea of sending a team to do an English camp in the community to allow more impact beyond the school doors.
All-in-all God is doing great work in the community of Boca Chica and it is such a blessing to partner together with this wonderful community and support the amazing work He is doing.
